Our Adoption in Christ

April 23, 2017
Galatians 4:1-7
In the search for freedom, each of us seeks to understand the fundamental question of who we are. What does the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ have to say about our identity? We see in this passage that only when our fundamental identity is that of an adopted, beloved child of God can we experience true freedom.
Sermon Outline: In Christ, we are given:
  1. A New Identity
  2. A New Freedom
  3. A New Cry
 K-Group Questions:
  1. Upon what do you tend to base your identity? Can you see how that might enslave you? How does the truth that you are first and foremost a child of God change the way you see those things you tend to look to for identity?
  2. Your belonging to God, your identity as an adopted and beloved child of God, is through Christ, and not based on the things you do. How does this truth change the way you see God? How does this change the way you see yourself? How does this change the way you see others?
  3. Have you ever experienced the Holy Spirit reminding you that you belong to God? How might the Holy Spirit be leading you to apply this unconditional love in real relationships with others?
